Closerr ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information in connection with your use of the Closerr mobile application (the "App").

We collect information you choose to provide and use it solely to support your use of the App and to improve our understanding of our user base.

a. Information You Provide

When registering or using Closerr, you may provide personal information including:

• Name
• Email Address
• Date of Birth
• Other profile details you choose to enter

This information is used only to support account functionality and internal insights. We do not sell or share this data with third parties for marketing purposes.

b. Automatically Collected Information

• Device & Usage Data: We may collect anonymized device information (e.g., device type, OS version) for debugging and performance monitoring.
• Push Notifications: With your permission, we may send notifications to support your engagement with the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Understand our user base (in anonymized or aggregated form)
• Send you reminders and other notifications
• Improve the App's performance and usability
• Respond to support requests

We do not use your personal information for advertising or profiling.

3. Data Storage & Processing Location

All data collected by Closerr is securely stored and processed in the United States, including data stored via MongoDB Atlas or our backend services.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

We may share data only under the following conditions:

• Service Providers: We use trusted infrastructure partners (e.g., MongoDB Atlas) to host and operate the App.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law or valid legal process, we may disclose certain information.

5. Data Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards (such as HTTPS, encryption, and access controls) to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Privacy Rights

You have control over your personal information and can:

a. Access and Update Your Information

You can access and update your personal information at any time through the Settings page in the App or web application.

b. Account Deletion

You have the right to delete your account and personal data at any time. We provide a self-service account deletion process:

Grace Period & What Happens:

• 30-Day Grace Period: After confirming deletion via email, you have 30 days to change your mind and cancel the deletion
• During Grace Period: Your account remains active and you can cancel the deletion at any time by visiting Settings
• After 30 Days: Your account will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered

What Gets Deleted:

• Your profile information (name, email, profile picture)
• Your connection list and blocked users
• Your account preferences and settings
• Push notification tokens and device information

What Gets Anonymized (Not Deleted):

• Messages: Past messages you've sent will remain visible to other users but will show as from "Deleted User"
• Call History: Call records will be anonymized but maintained for other users' history
• Key Dates: Shared key dates will show "Deleted User" instead of your name

This approach preserves important context for other users while removing all your personally identifiable information.

7. Children's Privacy and Safety

a. Age Requirements

Closerr is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.

b. Child Safety and CSAE Compliance

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) content. Our comprehensive Child Safety and CSAE Policy details our commitment to protecting minors.

c. CSAE-Related Data Handling

When we detect or receive reports of potential CSAE content:

• Immediate Preservation: We preserve all relevant data and evidence in encrypted, secure storage
• Limited Access: Only specially trained safety team members can access CSAE-related data
• Legal Retention: Data is retained for at least 90 days as required by law, extended for active investigations
• Law Enforcement Cooperation: We share preserved data with NCMEC and law enforcement as required by law
• Secure Deletion: After legal retention periods, CSAE-related data is permanently deleted

d. Reporting Obligations

We are required by U.S. law to report suspected CSAE content to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) via CyberTipline reports. This includes relevant user information and content as required for investigations.

8. International Users

If you are located outside of the United States, please note that your data will be stored and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this transfer and processing.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be posted in the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
